Things To Do

Keswick is rightly seen by many as the Adventure Capital of the Lake District. If you can do it outdoors - you can do it around Keswick!

We can help plan your holiday with contacts with many of the adventure centres in the area; whether its kayaking, climbing, guided walks, ghyll scrambling or riding; there is something here for everyone. Derwentwater Launch and Ullswater Steamer both run all year round.

We can advise on walks, cycle routes, recommend touring routes & picnic spots. We can also advise on great restaurants. The Lake District is justifiably famous for its high quality cuisine.

Brackenrigg is situated in the heart of some wonderful walking. There are gentle routes from the door around Naddle & St. John's-in-the -Vale, and for the more adventurous we can recommend routes up Helvellyn & Blencathra. There are plenty of circular walks from the door, and linear routes using the hourly bus service past our door.

Brackenrigg enjoys a magnificent location in the very heart of the Lake District, and yet only a couple of miles from Keswick-on-Derwentwater, a lovely Victorian market town with plenty of shops, an excellent Saturday market, restaurants, pubs, museums, a magnificent theatre, cinema, leisure pool, golf course & climbing wall.

Wordsworth's Dove Cottage is at Grasmere (about 10 mins' drive), the 4000 year-old Castlerigg Stone Circle is a mile-and-a-half away, and there's an Iron Age fort on Raven Crag behind Brackenrigg.
